WELCOME TO THE HAYLING ISLAND CHOIR
I am pleased to announce that the choir has a new Musical Director !!
Emily Christian has joined us and will take up the position permanently from
September 2022. She has an excellent background in music, achieving her
Batchelor of Music degree at the Royal Holloway University of London in
June 2020. She has sung Soprano in a number of choirs, including Soprano
1 Section Leader in the National Youth Choir of Great Britain.
If you would like to join Emily and the choir in rehearsal please come along
to St Andrew’s Church, Southwood Road, Hayling Island when we re-
commence after the Christmas break on Wednesday 11th January 2023 -
7.00pm to 9.00pm.
I look forward to welcoming you.
Julia Robinson - Chair
It was in 1984 that the call went out to Hayling Islanders to 'Come, sing with Joy'
that resulted in the Choir being formed. The invitation is still open today, and we
welcome new members and we emphasise fun - we are a friendly, social, community
Choir - our rehearsals are enjoyable !
As with most choirs, Men are in short supply and are particularly welcomed.
We sing in four parts - Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass (SATB)
Whilst the abilty to read music and even to sight read is desirable it is by no means
a requirement for joining the choir. All that we ask is that you can sing in tune, and
blend with the rest of the choir.
We usually perform three concerts a year.
We are a registered Charity (Reg. No.1104539) and as such one of our objectives is
to foster music among young people.
